TECHNICIAN AND FRONT OF HOUSE LABOUR POLICY

HOUSE TECHNICIANS

The GRAND has a Collective Agreement with I.A.T.S.E. Local 212.

All events in the Flanagan Theatre regardless of event type require three (3) House Technicians — Head Stage Carpenter, Head of Audio, and Head of Lighting.

Any and all activities within the Flanagan theatre must be supervised by our House Technicians at all times. The Licensee will not be given access and / or allowed to enter the Flanagan theatre without our House Technicians present even if the Licensee has their own production staff that are familiar with the venue. The Main Lobby, Mezzanine Lobby, and Studio (if used as a holding or rehearsal space) may be accessed without a House Technician present.

All events in the Studio with an audience or with a technical component require one (1) House Technician.

Additionally, please note that House Technicians must be provided with at least a one (1) hour meal break after every five (5) hours of work that has been done. Failure to do so will result in a Meal Penalty of $90.00 per hour per technician plus G.S.T. until a break is taken. Additionally, House Technicians receive a five (5) minute crew break for every hour worked.

FRONT OF HOUSE STAFF

Any and all events with public or private attendance must have Front of House staff present for any and all venues within the GRAND. Front of House staff provide service to patrons attending events at the GRAND and are trained in relevant emergency procedures. The quantity of Front of House staff as determined by the GRAND is non-negotiable.
