Discovering Asian Performing Arts

In celebration of Asian Heritage Month, The GRAND in partnership with prominent Asian musician Jiajia Li, presents a multi-disciplinary show, featuring dance artists Mibok Kim and Minho Kang from South Korea (presented by Calgary Korean Women’s Association), Calgary’s own Japanese taiko ensemble “Yama no oto”; and the eclectic local Chinese music ensemble “Gailan Ensemble”.
The event will also premiere a public screening of the short music film “Off To The Races”
《一馬當先》made by Calgary filmmaker Vicki Van Chau in collaboration with Calgary Chinese Orchestra and music producer Warren Tse during the Covid-19 pandemic.
In addition, pre-show & after-show cultural activities in the lobby include a riso poster show curated by Yolkless Press, guest speaker Dale Lee Kwong, a Chinese instrument “petting zoo” by Gailan Ensemble and more.
